Babywearing in Australian summer heat by Nurture Nature Sydney Babywearing

We’ve just come back from a lovely week away down south, it was quite warm but we definitely still needed the carrier to save our arms on most days. We tended to head out each morning to beat the hottest part of the day and then also went for a dip some days around 5pm.

Here are some top tips on babywearing in the heat🌞🤗

👒Wear a hat and sunblock

💁🏼‍♀️Hip and back carries where possible 🙆🏼‍♀️Arms out

💦Keep drinking water

❄️Some carriers are thicker than others so choose a lighter, thinner option like a ringsling when you can

🌈Remember that stretchy wraps and front wrap cross carries are multiple layers across baby’s body so consider this the same way you would when dressing them for the day

⚡️Baby regulates their body temp with you, use a layer between your skin and theirs

👣Take regular breaks

🌴Seek shade

🥵Avoid wearing during the hottest parts of the day (head out early or late instead) 🤗Don’t cover their face ! Follow TICKS guidelines
